I met Ringo Starr, while on my honeymoon. It was in Jamaica and I am dating myself now, it will be 25 years ago this summer. My wife and I had gone to a night club of sorts. He was sitting at a table just in front of us towards the stage. There were several people around him, family and bodyguards. I could not take a chance that if it was Ringo, miss the opportunity to speak to him. I walked up to him and said "excuse me. I hope I'm not bothering you" he replied "well, you bloody well are". I said I was sorry and turned to leave. He then grabbed me by the arm and said "what is it that you want?" I told him that I admired him, had been a fan for years and just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. He then became very friendly and said "well then, you know who I am, who are you?" I introduced myself, and we shook hands. He then said "I am here on my vacation. Are you on vacation?" To which I replied no, I was on my honeymoon. He then asked to meet my wife. I quickly went and got her. I introduced her to him and he shook her hand. He asked both of us. How long we were going to be in Jamaica. We told him "one week", he then started to laugh and said, you better stay for two. You'll never get to know each other in one week! We then said goodbye and thanked him for his time. After we sat back down. I regretted that I had not asked him for a photograph or an autograph. Something happened then, that made me realize he probably would not have spoken to us if I had. The master of ceremonies at the nightclub had the spotlight shone on him and asked him to come up on stage and say hello to the fans. His response to this was not good, he swore a bit and said he was on vacation and to leave him alone. And then quietly left!
I never really get tired of telling this story. I am sure that some of my family and friends are.
More recently, 2006, I was at a Ringo concert in Canada at Casino Rama. I was sitting in the front row, and when Ringo stopped directly in front of me on the stage. I jumped up and handed him the hat I was wearing with the Beatles logo on it. He asked me what is this for. I told him it was a gift to him. To this he replied I already have this one and handed it back to me. I have the hat in my display case at home, but I still don't have a photo with him or an autograph.

Thank you. I saw Paul in Philadelphia on his Driving Rain tour. I saw him two other times, once with Wings in the 70's, and those were in Philadelphia too. I'm going to see Ringo for the first time in June and I'm really excited! Thanks for accepting my friend request. :-)
I learned something new about you today. I didn't know your favorite movies. So, you are an Al Pacino fan! You'll have to let me know if you learn anything new about me.

Welcome to "My Beatles Space". I have also seen the Caverners. Kathy is correct, you will definitely love 'em! They are one of the very best tribute bands I have ever seen. I hope I hear back from you, I am trying to meet as many fans as I can on here.
